| How to post, that is. It's been a while, as B/C/M/others have reminded me. And that is because I choose to live my life authentically, not in some artificial riskless dreamworld that is the blog.
Well, it's actually because I haven't gotten around to it.
But here goes.
Today was very hard. I feel like I am lard. I really cannot move now. My muscles feel like moo-cows.
This came from a place deep inside me, and I hope you understand it.

| Just got out of cervical dislocation training. This was no fun, to say the least. What it means is that I practiced cervicals on ~10 mice. I already knew how to do it, but we had to get officially checked off. Last weekend was quite a good one. First, Friday night: I went with Akasio (my roommate) and Alicia (my neighbor) to a silent film, Sparrows. There was even a piano player there by the stage, playing the score like it was 1926. Sunday night I went to an open mic in Chapel Hill with some friends from church. The place was a little sketchy on the outside - to get in you had to go down a narrow alley and through an unmarked big metal door - but a cool atmosphere once you got inside: low ceiling, used books lining every wall, a little coffee shop area off to the left, and a tiny stage toward the back. I played a couple songs, and the strange artsy intellectual-type people really seemed to like them, which was encouraging. Then we went to another coffee shop (Chapel Hill has abundantly more cool places than Raleigh) and played songs w/ my friends and some other songwriters that they already knew. This was fun for me, since I don't know a whole lot of songwriters. I will prob. go next Sunday also. Yesterday I went running w/ Jeremiah (my neighbor) for what felt like 2 miles or so, set up my computer (Josh could you help me set up my wireless sometime?), got a $1 Drumstick from an old suspicious-looking ice cream truck that came through the 'hood (prob. not a good idea), and met my friend Paul from South Africa for supper at Jersey Mike's. If you don't comment you're letting Obama win! | | |
| I'm at work on my lunch break and I figured I'd write a short post. (My very first!) What's been goin' on lately, you ask? Well, not too much, I say...Friday we had a coffee shop/music night at our church. That was pretty fun. My setlist of the songs I played: Home at 7:30 Baseball and Acorns Shifting Sand (Caedmon's Call) The Unnamed Song (no, really - it's unnamed) Median Emmanuel is Here (why is this thing just doing double-spaced??) High School Band (Andrew Osenga) Seraph and Eleanor came and listened, which was very nice of them. In other news, on Friday I asked James, our administrative assistant, if he could order some more scissors for the lab, since our pair was getting dull. And what did I find just now at my desk? Four pairs! With titanium blades and a contoured soft grip! James is an upstanding man. If he decides to run for president of the USA he will have my vote. If he were black, I would even offer to be Vice President for him. But he isn't. | | |
